As the semester comes to a close, I would like to take the time to reflect on my time on the executive board of the Alpha Beta chapter of Delta Sigma Pi. I was truly honored to serve alongside such a wonderful group of driven and like-minded college students. As Vice President of Scholarships and Awards, I prioritized scholastic development within our fraternity by rewarding brothers for their good grades and encouraging group study, as well as notifying brothers of potential scholarship opportunities. This will be an experience I won't forget. I want to give a special thanks to Joseph Jamiolkowski for his exceptional leadership, and Gay Albright for answering all of my questions whenever I needed help. I couldn't have succeeded in this position without them. I am excited for my successor Lochlyn Adrian to take over and implement new ideas to make this position better!

A couple of weeks ago, we gave bids to 37 students, inviting them to join the Alpha Beta chapter of Delta Sigma Pi at the University of Missouri, Columbia. These outstanding individuals went through a week-long recruitment full of networking activities and a final interview. Each pledge class never fails to blow me away, and this class is no exception. I cannot wait to see how far they can go within our brotherhood throughout their pledgeship process. A special thanks to Wyatt Daly for putting on a fantastic recruitment week!

This might be a few weeks late, but through my Business Administration 3500 course I was selected to work on a project with the . This semester, my team and I will continue the work of last semester's team by exploring grant opportunities for this organization. We will research local, state, regional, and national grantmaking organizations and then rank these opportunities according to the coverage they can provide. I would like to thank Katie Lynn for giving us direction on this project and our project manager Isabelle Christiansen for supporting us throughout the semester! I cannot wait to get started on this project!

Today, I was able to attend a Q&A with Google Business Lead and Mizzou Alumni Kyle Holtzman. I gained valuable knowledge on how to ask questions that showcase critical thinking while also taking in information at the same time, and will apply this knowledge in my future career. I would like to thank Alpha Kappa Psi at the University of Missouri for putting this event on and once again thank Kyle for coming to speak to us!

As the Mizzou Arts & Science and Business Career Fairs are approaching this week, it is important to review how to navigate them. Here’s an interesting article I found on how to stand out whether you’re looking for a full time position, an internship, or if you’re just there to get a feel for it. Some important takeaways are:1. Do your research. Browse the list of companies that are attending and pick some companies that you are interested in. 2. Come prepared. In addition to bringing at least 10 copies of your tailored resume, also bring a list of companies that you are interested in. That way if you’re short on time, you can visit all the companies on your list.3. Stand out. One of the best ways to stand out to recruiters is to ask interesting questions. Also, don’t hesitate to hand them your resume while the conversation is going! When the conversation is about to wrap up, make sure you request their business card and thank them for their time.4. Follow up. Writing thank you notes to the recruiters you met 24-48 hours shows how much you value their time at the career fair, and it will make you that much more memorable to them. For those attending the career fairs this week, I wish you all good luck!

Today I went on a Corporate Site Visit with Mizzou’s Business Career Services at EquipmentShare and American Outdoor Brands, two companies that are headquartered in Columbia! At EquipmentShare, they brought in several employees to talk about their experiences there and gave us tips about looking for internships, and then gave us a tour of their facility. It was nothing like what I was expecting. They have their own gym with a rock climbing wall! I got to learn about how EquipmentShare is revolutionizing the construction industry with their T3 database. It was really cool! At American Outdoor Brands, we got a tour of the office and warehouse, and there was a panel at the end with all of their executives. I thought it was interesting that this company acquires brands that they see potential in, and then branch off creating new products and innovating upon the original within that brand. During the panel I gained valuable advice about my future career. I now know that whenever I am considering doing something, I should go for it because I miss all of the opportunities I don’t take! This was a memorable experience for sure!Business Career Services | Trulaske College of Business | University of Missouri EquipmentShare American Outdoor Brands Inc.
