Sucks we have to use our scrub bullpen today. If we get out with a W, it would be massive, but I do not see how our bullpen can hold up today.

Need somebody to put one in the seats. Paging Suwinski or Davis.

Please end this Henry Davis experiment. Send him down and don't call him back up for the rest of the year.

Twins have a pretty sizable advantage now because of the RPs that they have available. I still think it's going to take a HR to grab this.

Would be huge for Davis. At this point, I don't think he can be fixed this season.

How sh*tty must it feel to be the first overall pick and be pinch hit for in a huge situation by a scrub backup catcher?

The Pirates got a good showing out of their bullpen today minus the .1 innings Nicolas pitched. Really good series as a whole from the bullpen, especially with the bulllpen game yesterday.

It's kind of impressive that Heller is more wild and terrible than Nicolas.

I know Bednar and Holderman have pitched in 4 of the last 5 days, but I don't understand them not being available today with an off-day tomorrow.

This is such an embarrassing way to end this game. No way Heller is getting an out, Twins may win by 10 - 15 runs.

this isnt just one of those things, this is a result of managerial incompetence at multiple levels of the organization

Shouldn't have gotten to extras, twins were gifted a run. Unbelievable that can happen!

Exactly. This manager has thrown at least 7 wins away directly because of incompetence. Likely way more.

This is not on Shelton. If you overextend the only good leverage pitchers that you have, they get tired and/or hurt and then you are totally screwed.
This is the domino effect of 1) winning the bullpen game yesterday by using the leverage relievers and 2) Ben Cherington not having enough usable depth.
You just can't have guys like Heller on the team and not use them or expect to win when you do. And Ben Cherington's Pirates have 2 -- him and Heller. There's not much Shelton can do because he has to be cognizant of the longer view.
